McGettigan’s is a globally recognised Irish themed bar chain, with award-winning venues committed to sport, music and entertainment. They had approached us before the opening of their Souk Madinat Jumeirah branch in Dubai, to work with them on redesigning their logo as part of a larger global expansion.
The new logo needed to take them a step further than just a family-run pub, towards the more modern take on an Irish bar, that they were looking for. We worked through many variations of fonts, colours, styles and shamrocks to make sure that the logo became a modern interpretation of the old identity, without losing its unique personality and Irish roots.
With McGettigan’s expansion, new branches were being opened as well as franchises. The roots of the family business date back to 1964 and so, although they have a proven track record of attracting their type of customers to their venues, they were also aware that there are no official guidelines for this in place. With the prospect of franchisees needing to know this information quickly, we worked closely with them to create a full brand manual.
After working closely with the management and business development team from McGettigan’s, our copywriters and creatives, the final brand manual covers everything! It has been designed to take a franchisee from the very basics and history of the brand, types of people to hire, how to use the logo and all the way through to customer profiles and tone of voice in which to communicate with them.
tīmata then further developed the identity to include all branch names for each location around the world. We standardised their food and beverage menu template, along with the employee uniforms, signages and all other branded items within their venues.
With the brand work then completed, we moved on to creating a launch campaign for the Souk Madinat Jumeirah branch, focusing again on their core commitments to sport, music, entertainment and being “your new local” in the community. Our artwork featured across all print, digital media and advertising platforms. Coming out of this successful launch, tīmata continued to create on-going campaigns for this venue along with the build-up and launch to the JBR branch in Dubai, as well as initial exterior concepts and artwork for the London branch.
