Media One approached tīmata to create a concept and over-arching brand for their Christmas and New Year celebrations.
As part of the conceptualisation, we worked closely with the the management of Media One to compile a list of all elements that needed be covered. Such as their six dining venues, events spaces, room offers and corporate offerings.
The hotel is well-known for being quirky and doing things slightly off-beat to others. Rather than do the traditional festive route we looked at doing something different to help Media One stand out of the crowd. We knew that they wanted to focus on their festive and live music events.
Investigating a musicial route, taking onboard things like music gigs, pop magazines, top ten hits etc, the next question was “if Media One Hotel were a style of music what would they be?”. They certainly wouldn't be classical or pop. They could be rock, but we felt it's not quite 'out-there' enough. Punk fitted them perfectly, as punk is a music style that breaks boundaries and the rules.
With a theme decided we looked into following the style of the Sex Pistols and the Buzzcocks who represent the epitome of the punk music industry. Based on some phrases and titles that they are most famous for, we settled on "Nevermind the Baubles" as a concept.
Colours also played a major part of the concept, rather than using the traditional red and green festive colours, we settled with magenta, yellow and black as the hero colours.
With the concept “Nevermind the Baubles” completed, we moved on to creating promotional campaigns for the dining venues, events spaces, room offers and corporate offerings. Our artwork featured across all print, digital media and advertising platforms.
